AAA Birthday Cards Challenge November: Favorite Image #67

Hello, this month we're all about our favorite image and it had to be a cat didn't it?

I particularly love this "meh" looking cat from Katzelkraft's Les Chats Russe, esp together with the Snarky sentiment from Clearly Besotted (Laugh out loud again)

I stamped both with Versafine black ink om Waterart watecololoring paper and then colored the image with Karin Markers, I;m rather new to that and I think my paper isn't the best watercoloring paper and it's fine on small bits, like the eys and purple, but the grey looks a bit patchy to me.

I might redo it or not, depends how I feel about it in a couple of days ;-), maybe it just needs to dry properly overnight?

I'm looking forward to your favorite images this month.

AAA Birthday Cards Challenge October: Circle shaped card #66

Hello, this month we would like to see round or circle shaped cards.

For mine I diecut the flower die from Creative Expressions (CED24008) from White card.

Then found my plain round circles and diecut the backer , also white cardstock and inkblended some random Distress ink colors on it; attached the flower diecut and then splattered with Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust.

Aso diecut the bardbase by sticking the die up a little, so the top stays connected.

Obviously no room for a sentiment, so you'll have to trust me it's for a birthday card ;-)

AAA Birthday Cards Challenge September: Background Focus #65

Hello, well this one was easy..I had it left (rejected it) from the geometric chalenge.

I love the organic shapes more, and used them first, but they're not geometric as intended.

It's a stencil from Create a Smile Stamps (Organic shapes) and I've inkblended a rainbow or shapes on the cardbase; making sure they overlap so the colors mix.

Then I Splattered with black and gold metallic ink

Sentiment is from Clearly Besotted (Brushed greetings 2).

I look forward to your makes.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge August: Critters #64

Hello this month the AAA Birthday Challenge is my choice and, of course, I chose critters as I like my litle furry friends.

For my card I made the background by masking off the top of the cardbase and applied all sorts of green Distress inks and splattered with water. I thought it could be a tree or forest background.

The images and sentiment are from Clearly Besotted (Tiny type and Nutty but nice) and I've used my Copic Markers to color the Squirrels.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge July: Fabulous Flowers #63

Hello, this month we're all about the Fabulous Flowers.

I prefer to color pets and animals, so I don't have a lot of them, but a few key items I do have.

Also I don't like to color flowers.

So for my card I've used a Lili of the Valley flowered circular opening into a cardpanel.

Stamped the sentiment in Versafine Morning Mist. It's from Clearly Besotted Brushed Greetings II.

On the cardbase , behind the opening I've inkblended Distress inks: Salvaged Patina and Tumbled glass, with whatever was left on the brushes.

Adhered the panel to the cardbase. I left the little bells loose as I thought that would look more whimsical.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge June: Cute #62

Hello, this month we're all about "Cute" and could my Bunny Ballerina be any cuter? I think not.

It's a stamp from Nellie Snellen (Nellie's Choice Bunny Ballerina) and it comes with matching dies. I stamped it on Copic friendly paper, colored it in light pastel like colors, then cut it out and mounted it with foamtape and set it aside.

For my cardbase I first went with a triangular mask as in a spotlight, but it was off centre and I didn't like it. So I, instead, went with a whole lit up stage ( at least in my head) and I've inkblended Distress inks, Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo, Spun Sugar and Wilted Violet, to deepen the Picked Raspberry). Splattered with gold glitter spray ink and stamped the sentiment from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips).  Added the Bunny on top once the cardbase and ink was dry.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge May : Clean and Simple #61

Hello, this month we're all about Clean And Simple.

Much like the sister blog AAA Card Challenges, we look for minimal  or no layers, minimal or no embellishments, ample empty space, aka white space.

For my card I made a rectangular mask and inkblended Distress inks Cracked Pistachio and and on top Peacock Feathers.

The feathers are a stencil from Create a Smile (Federflug which means something like flight of feathers). If they were leaves they'd go too as part of my jungle like scene. The birds and twigs are from a Clearly Besotted set ( Some Birdie loves you) and I wanted them to look like  baby parrots. White gel pen details. Adhered the branch with liquid glue and the parrots with foamtape

Sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips).

AAA Birthday Cards Challenge April: Shaker card #60

Hello, this month the challenge prompt is shaker, I made a  shaker card, but I was thinking a cocktail shaker or wobbler also shakes, so....

I again made more than one card, that's the danger of having them done in plenty of time and then second guessing yourself ;-)

So for my second and final rendering:

I cut this little die from Dutch Crafts it from black cardstock.

Matched the moon with a circle shaped die and diecut that into a panel.

Stamped the Happy Birthday (Whimsy Stamps Simple Sentiment Strips) with Versafine Black ink and let it dry

Built up the shaker part with acetate, 2 layers of foamtape and filled it with gold stars confetti, maybe a few too many, but I liked the idea of golden stars  behind the Moon as if it's space. Closed the shaker with the same black cardstock and adhered it to a cardbase.

For the first card:

I started by diecutting the cloud shapes into a card panel (Joy Crafts)

I Inkblended the cardbase in different  Blue Distress inks. Adhered acetate to the back for the cloud panel and  built the wells up with thick foamtape from Heffy Doodle and added the confetti, closing the shaker with the cardbase.

The Sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps and the image with dies is from MIntopia (Voy Volando), stamped it with Extreme black ink and colored it with Copic Markers, cout him out and adhered it to the card with foamtape.

AAA Card Challenges March: Geometric #59

Hello, this month we play with Geometric shapes on your birthday cards.

For my card I first went blobs, liked it but then I realized organic shapes aren't geometric..so onwards...My second card looks a lot like the end result, but I can't stand the look of it, so onto the third and final version.

I've inkblended rectangles with Distress ink Lost Shadow, then laid circles on top, And As Distress  inks are transparent, you can see the shapes underneath, something I loved about my organic blobs.

I've used  Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Mermaid lagoon.

The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted Brushed Greetings II and I stamped it with Versafine Clair ink Morning Mist.

Splattered with a bit of black metallic ink, Ok not perfect circles but I needed something organic  and a bit of shine. I think the circles look like floating Planets

AAA Birthday Card Challenges February : Heart #58

Hello, this month we're all about Hearts  on Birthday Cards, probably because it's Valentine's but I didn't know how to implement it.

In the end I came up with a Diecut Heart window (Marianne Design CR1351 and I cut it from a cardpanel.

Traced the opening onto the cardbase and inkblended various tones of green Distress ink, like grass or a meadow or just a contrasting color

I stamped the sentiment from Whimsy Stamps ( Simple Sentiment Strips) and then mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase.

I had some of these diecuts left over from  a color challenge I entered last year and thought I could tuck those into the corner, so I did.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge January: Rainbow Colors #57

Hello this month we're all about Rainbow or Rainbow colors  at the AAA Birthday Cards  Challenge.

My card is DIstress inks applied through a Create a Smile Stencil (glassware) and a Whimsy Stamps Sentiment. I've added the illusion of shelved with a pencil, I didn't want them to be too prominent, much like the sentiment I've done it in Morning Mist from Versafine Clair ink.

Then I wanted to add a clever image or diecut, but I decided against it and just continued the vases to the bottom (light pink and light yellow)

My Distress inks were: Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin,Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry and later Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade

AAA Birthday Card Challenges #56: Add a tag

Hello, this month the Birthday Card we make should feature a tag, or a card with matching tag.

My tag is actually a window in a tag shape, like I saw Michelle from the Card Grotto do on her Youtube channel in May.

For my card I mirrored the window as my element (Toucan) faces the other way.

I've used all things Marianne Design:

Tag LR0411

Flowers are from the Bee set COl1505

Toucan is Col 1457

Double Sided tape LR0014

Distress inks: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and  Rustic Wilderness.

lots of colored cardstock.

I started bij cutting the tag shaped window 3 times from the left t make it straight and without smudges, only to realize I prefer it on the other side, so two more panels diecut and it still wasn't straight, looks straight when I stick it on, but I was fed up, so I  cut cut a matte to make it straight.

I traced the opening onto the cardbase, masked the edges outside the matte and applied my Distress inks, then splattered with water and set is aside to dry.

In the meantime I diecut all the elements from Scraps of colored card, backed with the double sided tape, so they  become stickers. I forgot one or two bits.

Mounted the panel with the tag window with foamtape before I realized I forgot to stamp the Happy Birthday and at this point I really didn't want another mess, so I did add it afterwards in photoshop.

I tried the black banner like in the Video from Michelle, but I  didn't know where to put it and at the top is wasn't   that pretty.

I then tucked the branch and all the bird bits into the window and assembled the Toucan and foliage. And lastly I added some details with a white gelpen.

I'd like to wish everyone  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

AAA Birthday Card Challenges #55: Large Sentiment

Hello, this month we at AAA Birthday Card Challenges are all about the sentiment, a BIG Sentiment.

For my card I've used the Marianne Design alphabet (Col1449), the biggest letter dieset I have and it was actually so big it didn't fit on a normal size card A6 or 4"x6", so I made it a slimline.

I did start on an A6 panel and inkblended a rainbow of Distress inks and then splattered with water, white paint and Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust.

Lined them up as best as possible, always hard with individual elements and raised all the letter with foamtape.

As I cut the A4 cardstock into a slimline size, I always have this panel left, so I thought I should use it and it just fits the letters  in two rows.

I measured the centre of this panel and laid out the letters, then picked them up one by one, mounted them with foamtape and stuck them on the panel. Not perfect, but I'm fine with it actually.

I did try to take the R off and re stick it, but it wasn't budging and, at this point, I really didn't want to mess up, so I left it.

The white on white was a bit Blah, so I also added a black matte, makes the letters pop for sure.

Stuck all of it together, thought about adding some enamel dots, but I didn't think it needed it.

I thought I would have the inkblended panel left to do an opposite card with white letters and a rainbow background, and if I had measured properly I probably might have, but as the Y on Birthday didn't fit in one row, the  panel doesn't work any more.

AAA Birthday Cards Challenge #54: Favourite Colors

Hello this Month we have a collab with our sister challenge  AAA Cards.

(AAA Cards is: inkblending with 3 or more colors) and AAA Birthday Card Challenges is: Favorite Colors.

AAA Cards is a Clean and Simple Challenge, so CAS cards  and ours is of course Birthday Cards

Now my favorite colors are Distress inks for inkblending and I've used more than 3 ;-)

I've used: Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire, Villainous Poison and Wilted Violet.

For my card, I masked off an area and applied the Distress inks with inkblending brushes, then splattered with water and adhered an image from Whimsy Stamps (Peeking Pandas that I colored with Copic Markers)

Stamped the Happy Birthday from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips) with Versafine ink.

AAA Birthday Cards Challenge September 2023: #53 Animals

Hello, this month I've chosen the theme and it's animals.

Our moderator Jane has used cat paws for the badge as I chose the theme and, although tempted, I just couldn't make a cat card just now.

Technically mine are insects but still animals in my opinion.

I've used the bee and ladybug from Marianne Design  and colored them with Graphit Brush alcohol markers., cut them out with the included dies.

For the background I've cut a Hexagon from a cardpanel (Love 2 Craft) and then traced the opening on the cardbase, so I knew where to mask and or inkblend.

I thought the hexagon window, but also the Memory BOX Texture Honey Comb stencil would fit the theme. I've used  Distress inks (Mustard Seeds, Spiced Marmalade and Dried Marigold).

The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips) and I've stamped it with Versafine ink.

Mounted the panel and bugs with foamtape and adhered them to the cardbase.

Lastly I've added some shimmer with a Nuvo Shimmer pen and details with a white gel pen.

AAA Birthday Card Challenges August: #52 Anything Birthday Goes

Hello this month Anything Birthday Goes.

For my card I've used  digital stamps from Miezo

I also printed a Polar Bear going to the beach and I wanted to use it for another blog post, but it was too crowded for me.

I printed the digis and colored them with alcohol markers.

The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday (Alligators and Crocodiles) and I stamped it with Versafine ink.

My border was supposed to look more beach sand like, but it turnoed out darker than I inteded (Distress inks Rusty Hinge and Ground Espresso and some Mermaid Lagoon). I cut a mask and then inkblended the sea first, removed the one mask and adhered the mirrored mask but I left a little white as if it's the sea foam...made the blue fade into the white for  CAS feeling.

Anyway over to you, to play along or more dt examples, see this.

AAA Birthday Cards Challenge July: Butterflies #51

Hello, this month at the AAA Birthday Cards we're all about Butterflies.

For my card I've used the Concord & 9th set Beautiful Butterfly.

I've stamped the wings with Distress inks, by using an mini ink applicator directly on the stamp, had to do them al twice.

Then I stamped the  body of the butterfly with Morning Mist Versafine and the sentiment also Versafine black ink.

I've tried the ink plus water for a watecolor look, but the nice grunge texture with the splatter would dissapear.

AAA Birthday Cards Challenges June: Watercolors

Hello, this month we're all about watercolored cards.

For mine, I stamped the Lawn Fawn Crocodile onto watercolor paper with Versafine ink and then colored him with Mijello Mission Gold watercolors.  Same for the background I made kind of a river for the Croc to swim in. I diecut the croc with the coordinating dies and added white dots to it's eyes and mounted it with foamtape for later.

The background is also watercolor paper and Mijello Mission gold watrercolors. Let it dry then splattered with Finetec Iridescent  watercolors in Teal and Blue, it's hard to see  as they all looks  like a pearl.

The sentiment is from the Whimsy Stamps Simple Sentiments Strips and I als o stamped it with Versafine ink. Cut the edges, to make a mat and mounted it with foamtape adhered it to a cardbase and adhered the Crocodile on top.

AAA Birthday Card Challenges May 2023: Balloons

Hello, this month we're all about balloons, I went with Birthday Balloons , but what about a Hot air balloon? or Balloon animals? Weather balloon? I don't know can you think of others? Not sure Weather balloons is very birthday likem byut hey...

My card wasn't really coming together, this is the 4th version I think and frankly I would have been happier with just the Panda image with the sentiment, but is that at all festive?

Made a balloon like background ( a few times) by inkblending Distress inks onto the cardbase. The first  version was Wilted Violet, Marmaid Lagoon and Mowed Lawn, it was tricky to get the  colors from going muddy. So I tried it again with warm colors..didn't like it, then I decided to do a rainbow in rainbow order and that didn't give me mud :-)the Chipped Sapphire was a later addition as I didn't notice my balloons were dropping to the right and I wanted it to look random(ish) and I also wanted them to be overlap so they'd feel transparent.

Panda image is from Marianne design (EC0179) and I stamped it with Versafine to get a nice bold impression, then I was left with the balloon. I decided to color it with Spectrum Noir Glitter ink, on normal paper, because of the Versafine Ink I  couldn't color it with alcohol markers. After that I cut it out with the coordinating dies in the set.

The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips) again, I just love it, couldn't get it straight so I stamped it on the slant on purpose.

If you want to play along the AAA Birthday Card Challenge, see this.

AAA Birthday Card Challenges April: #47 Layer it up

Hello, this month we're all about layers over at the AAA Birthday Cards Challenge, but that's not my thing.

I think it's my thing, so I buy these cute layering diesets from Avec Creations (Love 2 Craft) and well, then I don't use them much, I like them, I think I used them last year for the interactive challenge and the sea scene  on another card. Can't resist them as the price is such a good value, I think less than 4 euro, can't resist.

I thought this particular set might be cool for a sweet 16, in the Netherlands that's the legal age to get a scooter license, so this would be nice if someone's reached that age, or perhaps someone that is a scooter fan.

Anyway there's more parts in the set, I didn't use, I think a flower basket, but that might make it only for the girls.

I diecut all the pieces from colored cardstock and stuck them on top. the grey background was initially open, but it looked weird on a white cardbase, so I stuck a pale grey there and then it looked weird still on white, so a colored cardbase for me..oops, I know I'm shocked too.

I even stamped the sentiment in Versafine Morning Mist grey!..grey! Blimey who am i?

Even now I think the lantern is too stark in black, but  yeah hindsight.

It has to be a birthday card, of course, and  the recipient will love it, might change the lantern into sliver, for a shiny metal street light, not sure.

If you'd like to play along the AAA  Birthday Card Challenges, see this.
